Welcome to our blog! We are a big family, trying to live life in a simpler way.
Back in November of 2017, we realized our dream of moving out of the cookie cutter “subdivision” onto six acres of beautiful farm land. It is our mission to never be tied to a restrictive and political HOA again. Our home and land have an incredible history that we’ve been able to trace back to the 1850’s so far.
With that said, there is a lot of rejuvenation that we bring daily to the land through sustainable practices, and a permaculture backbone. The land has not been recently maintained, yet as we clean up we are discovering incredible growth of nut trees, fruit trees, an abundant ecosystem, and have discovered a canvas that we know we can make our own.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with permaculture, here is the official definition from Wikipedia: a system of agricultural and social design principles centered around simulating or directly utilizing the patterns and features observed in natural ecosystems.
In layman terms, we utilize our animals, strategic planting, natural fertilizer production through composting, and as little waste production as possible to realize a healthier and economical way of life.
We look forward to sharing our daily journey (good and bad) as we learn and live at Belle Oaks Natural Farms.
